August 1st week - Day 6 [End of camp]

Hello parents! Time flies here, and we just got to the last day of the camp! It's incredible how quick everything has happened. Just a few days ago the kids were discovering the residence, and today they just left. Yesterday it was an amazing day and, for sure, one of the best ones. The children had the olympic games, which lasted for the whole day, including the night. They were divided into 6 teams, each with the name of a river in the valley (Ebro, Sedanillo, Rudrón...). During the day they had a lot of games (running games, in the swimming pool, at night...) and at the end of the day the winners were said, which were the ones in river Ubierna. In the English lessons they had a lot of games which were based on talking and participating. We hope they don't see the English language anymore as a boring subject, but a good and interesting way of communication with others. We also hope they have learnt a lot and have fun in the camp, and we'd really love to see all them again! Have a good summer! ;)

Hola papis! El tiempo vuela por aquí, y acabamos de llegar ya al último día de campa! Es increíble lo rápido que ha pasado todo. Hace tan sólo unos días, los chicos estaban descubriendo la residencia y el entorno, y hoy se acaban de ir. Ayer fue un día increíble y, seguramente, uno de los mejores. Los chicos tuvieron los juegos olímpicos, que duraron todo el día, incluyendo la noche. Fueron divididos en 6 equipos, cada uno con el nombre de un río del valle (Ebro, Sedanillo, Rudrón...). Durante el día hicieron muchos juegos (de correr, en la piscina, por la noche...) y al final del día se dijeron los ganadores, que fueron los participantes del grupo del río Ubierna. En las clases de inglés hicieron también muchos juegos que estaban pasados en hablar y participar. Esperamos que ya no vean el inglés como una asignatura aburrida, sino como un modo divertido e interesantes de comunicarse con otros. También esperamos que hayan aprendido un montón y que se lo hayan pasado genial, nos encantaría volver a verlos a todos en un futuro! Pasad un buen verano! ;)

August 1st week - Day 5

Good morning everyone! Today is the last day of the camp, so it will be a really exhausting day for the kids, but first pics from Thursday! Yesterday the children learnt in the lessons the importance of recycling. Then in the morning activities there were some animal workshops; in a workshop they had to make a lizard with a simple peg and an owl with nutshells and felt. In the afternoon, each group had to prepare a theatre in which they had to create and perform different TV programmes (series, films, soap operas, doccumentaries, music programmes...), and then they had to carry out their performance in front of everyone. There are some really good actors among them! At night they had a "small horror surprise" and played an orientation game around the residence, looking for envelopes with pieces so as to make a puzzle later.  Buenos días a todo el mundo! Hoy es el último día de campa, así que va a ser un día agotador para los chicos, pero primero fotos del jueves! Ayer los niños aprendieron en clase la importancia del reciclaje. Luego en las actividades de la mañana hicieron talleres de animales; en un taller tenían que hacer un lagarto con una simple pinza de la ropa y un buho con cáscaras de nuez y fieltro. Por la tarde, cada grupo tenía que preparar un teatro en el que tenían que crear y representar diferentes programas de televisión (series, películas, telenovelas, documentales, programas de música...), y luego tenían que hacer sus representaciones delante de todos. Hay algunos actores realmente buenos entre ellos! Por la noche tuvieron una "pequeña sorpresa" e hicieron un juego de orientación alrededor de la residencia, buscando sobres con piezas para poder hacer un puzzle más tarde. Mañana escribiremos la última entrada de la primera semana, así que estad atentos! Chao chao!

August 1st week - Day 4

Hi hi! Today it's Thursday and it's only 2 days to go! Time is passing by so quickly we don't even realize. Yesterday, on Wednesday, we were just halfway through the camp. In the morning the children learnt how to read a map and some basic things about orientation, which they would use later for the morning activity, as they had to complete an orientation gymhkana around Sedano, looking for clues with symbols on them. Incredibly, 5 groups out of 6 completed the whole game on time! It's the first time in our camp that so many groups complete it, we are so proud of them! Then in the afternoon they had to think of dialogues, dances, songs and so on and practise them, because at night we had the talent show! There were some really good performances and at the end we danced till bedtime. I'm sure it was the best night of the camp for them so far! Now as I'm writing they are carrying out some animal workshops; you will see the result tomorrow. Stay tuned! ;)

Hola hola! Hoy es jueves y ya sólo quedan 2 días para irnos! El tiempo pasa tan rápido que ni siquiera nos damos cuenta. Ayer, miércoles, ya estábamos a mitad de campamento. por la mañana los chicos aprendieron cómo leer un mapa y algunas cosas básicas sobre orientación, que más tarde usarían para la actividad de la mañana, ya que tendrían que completar una gymkhana de orientación alrededor de Sedano, buscando pistas con símbolos en ellas. Increíblemente, 5 grupos de 6 completaron el juego a tiempo! Es la primera vez en nuestro campamento que tantos grupos lo consiguen, estamos orgullosísimos de ellos! Luego por la tarde tuvieron que pensar diálogos, bailes, canciones y cosas así para practicarlas, ya que por la noche teníamos el show de talentos! Hubo algunas actuaciones muy buenas, y al final bailamos hasta la hora de dormir. Estoy seguro de que para ellos fue la mejor noche del campamento hasta ahora! Ahora mientras estoy escribiendo, están haciendo algunos talleres de animales; mañana veréis los resultados. Permaneced atentos! ;)

August 1st week - Day 3

Hello everyone!

Yesterday, on Tuesday, we had a wonderful and light summer day, so we went hiking to the Blue Pit, which is the second longest underwater cave in the world. The way was very pleasant, we stopped sometimes before reaching the "pit" (which is really a small lake) and we had a quick bath in its freezing water (around 51ºF). We were lucky to coincide with some divers who were exploring the cave.

We came back to Covanera to have lunch and relax a bit before going back to Sedano. On the way there and back we were talking in English, and little by little the kids are losing all sense of shame. At night we played a game before going up to the attic, where we did a relaxation activity with music and candles.

Hola a todos!

Ayer martes disfrutamos de un suave día de verano y nos fuimos de marcha al Pozo Azul, que es la segunda cueva acuática más larga del mundo. El camino fue muy agradable, hicimos varias paradas antes de llegar al pozo donde nos bañamos en su fría agua (11ºC). Tuvimos la suerte de coincidir con varios buceadores que estaban explorando la cueva.

Volvimos a Covanera a comer y a relajarnos un poco antes de emprender el camino de vuelta a Sedano. Tanto a la ida como a la vuelta estuvimos conversando en inglés, poco a poco ya nos vamos soltando.

Por la noche jugamos un juego antes de subir al ático donde realizamos una actividad de relajación con música y velas.

August 1st week - Day 2

Hello hello! A bit late, but here we are again! We haven't uploaded anything earlier, as today we have been hiking (you'll see the pictures tomorrow!). Yesterday the kids experienced the first full day in the camp. With the English groups already formed, they had their first English lessons. In the morning activities they made their own "nature box", to keep all the artwork they will make during the camp, fossils, and more. Then they created their own animal footprints with EVA foam, which were going to be used later to create a story in the afternoon lessons. Some of them were just amazing! After lessons, they went to the swimming pool, played football, basketball... and after dinner, we played "glow worm", which is similar to English hide and seek, but at night with torches and some different rules. Tomorrow morning we'll upload today's pics and will tell you about the hike! Bye bye!

Hola hola! Un pelín tarde, pero aquí estamos de nuevo! No hemos subido nada antes ya que hoy hemos estado de marcha (mañana podréis ver las fotos). Ayer los chicos tuvieron su primer día completo de campa. Con los grupos de inglés ya hechos, tuvieron sus primeras clases. En las actividades de la mañana hicieron su propia "caja de naturaleza" para poder guardar en ella todos los talleres que hagan durante el campamento, fósiles, y más cosillas. Luego, hicieron sus propias huellas de animales con goma eva, las cuales iban a usar en las clases de la tarde para inventarse una historia. Había algunas muy buenas! Después de las clases fueron a la piscina, jugaron al fútbol, baloncesto... y después de cenar jugamos a "luciérnaga", que es parecido al escondite inglés, pero de noche, con linternas y algunas reglas diferentes. Mañana por la mañana subiremos las fotos de hoy y os contaremos cosillas sobre la marcha. Chao chao!

August 1st week - Day 1

Good morning everyone! Hello hello! August is here, and so are the first August camps! The very first one began yesterday, and everything went just as expected. We explained the rules to the kids, divided them into "table groups" and had the first activities. They did some presentation games and in the afternoon had their first lesson and took the level test, in order to make some English groups based on their level. Of course, there was some swimming pool time as well! At night they played the "catch the flag" game and at 11:30, bed time after such a tiring day. Today the day will be quiet, as tomorrow they are going hiking and they have to get their strength back. Bye bye!

Buenos días! Hola hola! Agosto ya esta aquí, y por lo tanto ya tenemos aquí los primeros campamentos! El primero primerísimo empezó ayer, y todo salió según lo previsto. Les explicamos las reglas del campa a los chicos, les dividimos en "grupos de mesa" (para comer, desayunar, etc.) e hicieron las primeras actividades. Hicieron unos cuantos juegos de presentación y por la tarde tuvieron su primera clase de inglés y el test de nivel, para poder así hacer grupos de inglés basados en el nivel. Y por supuesto, también hubo rato de piscina! Por la noche jugaron a "atrapar la bandera" y a las 11:30, a la cama después de un día tan ajetreado. Hoy el día será tranquilillo, ya que mañana nos vamos de marcha y tienen que reponer fuerzas. Chao chao!
