August - 2nd camp [Days 4 and 5]

Hi ho! Did you miss us? Here we come with more pictures and news! However, if you have already talked to your children, they will have probably told you how good this is! We must tell you that during the first two days they were really calm, quiet and silent, but now they are like a hurricane! ;)

On Tuesday, the first thing we did was the orientation game around the village and mountain. The children were divided into groups and they had to follow a topographical map in order to get to all the clues, a team found them all in time and the other team could only get to 7 clues out of 10! After all the exhaustion from this game, we had some quiet workshops and games. First we had to make a stork's nest and then we had some games where the children had to trust in each other. In the afternoon we dealt with "egagrópilas", which are remains of owl's foos, that is mice and other small animals. The children had to look for small bones of these animals and clasify them. After that we played a game where the children had to take the other children's tails so as to get all the pieces of a map, which would be joined later to find a treasure! At night we played a game called "Sanctuary", where children turned for one night in vampires, victims and hunters.

Yesterday, on Wednesday, we had some multi-adventure activities, like climbing, abseiling and slacklining. The rest of the day has been full of activities, like gaelic football, which is a mixture of football, basketball and rugby, or some varied games which the children loved. At night we had the other orientation game in the village. Table group 2 was the absolute winner!

Hola hola! Nos echábais de menos? Aquí volvemos con más fotos y novedades! Sin embargo, si habéis hablado con vuestros hijos probablemente os habrán contado ya cómo es todo por aquí! Tenemos que deciros que durante los primeros dos días eran súper silenciosos y apenas hablaban, pero ahora son como un huracán! ;)

El martes lo primero que hicimos fue un juego de orientación alrededor del pueblo y montaña. Los niños se dividieron en dos grupos y tenían que seguir un mapa topográfico para poder conseguir todas las pistas, un equipo las encontró todas a tiempo y el otro sólo pudo conseguir 7 de 10! Después de todo este cansancio hicimos unos talleres y juegos más relajados. Primero tuvimos que hacer un nido de cigüeña y luego hicimos algunos juegos de confianza. Por la tarde aprendimos lo que son las "egagrópilas", restos de animales comidos por búhos o lechuzas, principalmente ratones o topillos. Los niños tenían que buscar pequeños huesos de estos animales y clasificarlos. Luego jugamos a un juego en el que los niños tenían que intentar quitarles la "cola" a los participantes de otros equipos para conseguir piezas de un mapa que les guiaría a un tesoro. Por la noche jugamos a "Santuario", en el que los niños se convirtieron durante una noche en víctimas, vampiros o cazadores.

Ayer, miércoles, tuvimos unas cuantas actividades de multi-aventura, como escalada, rappel o slacklining. El resto del día estuvo lleno de juegos y actividades, como el fútbol gaélico, una mezca de fútbol, baloncesto y rugby, u otros juegos variados que a los niños les encantaron. Por la noche tuvimos el último juego de orientación, esta vez un rastreo nocturno por el pueblo. El grupo 2 fue el ganador absoluto de los juegos de orientación!

August - 2nd camp [Days 2 and 3]

Hello again! After a couple of days here you have more information and pictures:

On Sunday we had our first full day, and during the whole day there were quite a few different games and workshops. We played such good games like "The Walking Dead" or "Bulldog" and in the workshops we made our own twitter to stick on our doors, we received and redecorated a camp notebook in order to take fieldnotes and also made some animal footprints out of cardboard and foamy. At night we played chess; the children thought it would be boring but what they didn't know is that we weren't talking about the original chess but a more active one, and they loved it!

Yesterday we had a hike to the "Pozo Azul", the longest underwater cave with fresh water in the world. Just 11.5 km. have been explored so far, and next weekend there are more divers to come to keep on exploring its length. Some of them got into its freezing water and all of them enjoyed it. On the way back we had time to stop and learn how to make food for fish. At night we watched a movie, as they were all exhausted. We watched "The Croods", a movie about evolution in prehistoric times.

Hola de nuevo! Tras un par de días aquí tenéis más información y fotos:

El domingo tuvimos nuestro primer día completo y durante todo el día hicimos diferentes juegos y talleres. Jugamos a juegos tan buenos como "El vivo al hoyo" o "Bulldog" y en los talleres hicimos nuestro propio "Twitter" para pegar en las puertas de nuestras habitaciones, les dimos y remodelaron un cuaderno del campamento para convertirlo en cuaderno de campo y además hicimos algunas huellas con cartón y goma Eva. Por la noche jugamos al ajedrez; los niños pensaron que sería aburrido, pero lo que ellos no sabían es que no estábamos hablando del ajedrez original sino de uno más activo, y les encantó!

Ayer tuvimos la marcha al Pozo Azul, la cueva subacuática de agua dulce más larga del mundo. De momento sólo han sido explorado 11.5 km. y el próximo fin de semana van a venir más buceadores para seguir explorando su longitud. Algunos de los chicos se metieron en el agua, que estaba helada, y todos se lo pasaron pipa. De camino a la residencia paramos a aprender a hacer comida para peces. Por la noche vimos una película porque estaban destrozados. Vimos "Los Croods", una película sobre evolución en tiempos prehistóricos.

August - 2nd camp [Day 1]

Hello everybody, and welcome to our blog! Here you will find pictures and news about your children and the activities they carry out day after day.

Yesterday, on Saturday, they arrived at the camp. This time they come from Valladolid, Burgos, Palencia, Soria and some of them from Ávila. On the first day we divided them into rooms of 2 and 3 people and got to know the facilities. We also had a talk, given by a man hired by the Junta the Castilla y León, and we played "duel", a presentation game to get to know the names of each other. We entered into the swimming pool; they said the water was cold, then wait for the "Pozo Azul" to come! At night we played an orientation game around the residence in order for them to know the place. They had to look for ten envelopes with pieces of 4 different puzzles inside. Group 4 / Table group 4 won!

Hola a todo el mundo, y bienvenidos a nuestro blog! Aquí encontaréis fotos y novedades sobre vuestros hijos y de las actividades que realizan día tras día.

Ayer, sábado, llegaron todos al campamento. Esta vez vienen de Valladolid, Burgos, Palencia, Soria y algunos de ellos desde Ávila. El primer día les dividimos en habitaciones de 2 y 3 personas y conocimos las instalaciones. También tuvimos una charla, impartida por un chico contratado por la Junta de Castilla y León, y jugamos el pistolero, un juego de presentación para intentar quedarnos con los nombres de todos. También probamos la piscina; algunos decían que el agua estaba fría, pues espérate a que prueben el agua del Pozo Azul! Por la noche hicimos un juego de orientación por la residencia para que se conozcan bien el lugar. Tenían que buscar diez sobres con diferentes piezas de un puzle que luego tenían que unir. El grupo 4 / grupo de mesa 4 ganó!

August - 1st camp [Days 4 and 5]

Hi everyone! Here we are with more pictures!

On Tuesday we did different natural workshops and games. In the morning we played some team games and had two workshops, in one of them they had to make a stork nest with some sticks and ropes. In the other one they had to deal with "egagrópilas", which are small balls with feathers, fur and bones of other animals. This balls are vomited by animals like owls, and the children had to look for the small remains of other animals eaten by them. In the afternoon and night there were two different orientation games; in the afternoon they had an orientation game around the village with a topographical map and at night an orientation game in a neighbourhood in the village with an aerial map, it was fun!

On Wednesday we had different types of activities. In the morning the children were divided into groups. Some of them went to look for fossils to the mountain, some others stayed in the residence to learn how to make different knots and some others tried the slacklining activity. In the afternoon they learned to play gaelic football, which is the typical football played in Ireland, and also played a game where they had to get ten pieces of a map and join them in order to find a treasure. At night the children turned into vampires, victimes and hunters for one night to play the game called "sanctuary", where the vampires tried to convert victims and the hunters get them.

Hola a todo el mundo! Aquí estamos de vuelta con más fotos!

El martes hicimos diferentes talleres naturales y juegos. Por la mañana jugamos a unos cuantos juegos de equipo y tuvimos dos talleres, en uno de ellos tenían que hacer un nido de cigüeña con palos y cuerdas. En el otro aprendieron lo que eran las egagrópilas, pequeñas bolas de pelo, plumas y huesos de otros animales. Estas bolas son vomitadas por animales como búhos o lechuzas, y los niños tenían que buscar los diferentes restos de otros animales comidos por ellos. Por la tarde y por la noche hubo dos tipos diferentes de orientación: por la tarde hicieron un juego de orientación alrededor del pueblo y montaña con un mapa topográfico y por la noche hicieron un rastreo por un barrio del pueblo con un mapa aéreo, estuvo guay!

El miércoles hicimos dos tipos de actividades diferentes. Por la mañana los niños se dividieron en grupos. Algunos fueron a por fósiles a la montaña y otros se quedaron en la residencia para aprender a hacer diferentes nudos y también para probar la actividad de slacklining. Por la tarde aprendieron a jugar al fútbol gaélico, que es el fútbol típico de Irlanda, y también jugaron a un juego en el que tenían que conseguir reunir diez partes de un mapa para luego unirlas y encontrar un tesoro. Por la noche los niños se convirtieron en vampiros, víctimas y cazadores por una noche para jugar a "Santuario", donde los vampiros intentaban convertir a las víctimas y los cazadores intentaban darles caza.

August - 1st camp [Day 1]

Hello everyone and welcome to our blog!

Throughout the following days we will upload pictures and will tell you what the children are doing daily.

Yesterday was the first day of the camp and the children arrived at the camp at noon. We explained them the rules both in English and Spanish, showed them around and placed them in their rooms. In the afternoon we played different games to get to know each other and also to have fun. We started by playing "Ass to the grass", which is a very funny game with a ball. Then we played some games to get to know each other's name. In the evening we could enjoy the swimming pool and play some sports, and at night we played an orientation game around the residence. The children had to look for some envelopes hidden around the residence and take the pieces of a puzzle from the inside.

Today we have been doing many different things... but that's another story! Stay tuned for more information and pictures!

Hola a todo el mundo y bienvenidos a nuestro blog!

Durante los próximos días subiremos fotos y os iremos contando qué hacen vuestros hijos diariamente.

Ayer fue el primer día de campamento y los niños llegaron aquí a mediodía más o menos. Les explicamos las reglas tanto en inglés como en español, les mostramos las instalaciones y les distribuimos por habitaciones. Por la tarde jugamos a varios juegos para conocernos y también para divertirnos un poco. Empezamos jugando al "Vivo al hoyo", un juego muy divertido de "matar" con un balón. Luego hicimos juegos para conocer los nombres de los demás. Más tarde pudimos ir a la piscina y jugar a algunos deportes, y por la noche se hizo un juego de orientación alrededor de la residencia. Los niños tenían que buscar sobres escondidos por la residencia y coger las piezas de un puzzle que estaban dentro.
