August - 2nd camp [Days 4 and 5]

Hi ho! Did you miss us? Here we come with more pictures and news! However, if you have already talked to your children, they will have probably told you how good this is! We must tell you that during the first two days they were really calm, quiet and silent, but now they are like a hurricane! ;)

On Tuesday, the first thing we did was the orientation game around the village and mountain. The children were divided into groups and they had to follow a topographical map in order to get to all the clues, a team found them all in time and the other team could only get to 7 clues out of 10! After all the exhaustion from this game, we had some quiet workshops and games. First we had to make a stork's nest and then we had some games where the children had to trust in each other. In the afternoon we dealt with "egagrópilas", which are remains of owl's foos, that is mice and other small animals. The children had to look for small bones of these animals and clasify them. After that we played a game where the children had to take the other children's tails so as to get all the pieces of a map, which would be joined later to find a treasure! At night we played a game called "Sanctuary", where children turned for one night in vampires, victims and hunters.

Yesterday, on Wednesday, we had some multi-adventure activities, like climbing, abseiling and slacklining. The rest of the day has been full of activities, like gaelic football, which is a mixture of football, basketball and rugby, or some varied games which the children loved. At night we had the other orientation game in the village. Table group 2 was the absolute winner!

Hola hola! Nos echábais de menos? Aquí volvemos con más fotos y novedades! Sin embargo, si habéis hablado con vuestros hijos probablemente os habrán contado ya cómo es todo por aquí! Tenemos que deciros que durante los primeros dos días eran súper silenciosos y apenas hablaban, pero ahora son como un huracán! ;)

El martes lo primero que hicimos fue un juego de orientación alrededor del pueblo y montaña. Los niños se dividieron en dos grupos y tenían que seguir un mapa topográfico para poder conseguir todas las pistas, un equipo las encontró todas a tiempo y el otro sólo pudo conseguir 7 de 10! Después de todo este cansancio hicimos unos talleres y juegos más relajados. Primero tuvimos que hacer un nido de cigüeña y luego hicimos algunos juegos de confianza. Por la tarde aprendimos lo que son las "egagrópilas", restos de animales comidos por búhos o lechuzas, principalmente ratones o topillos. Los niños tenían que buscar pequeños huesos de estos animales y clasificarlos. Luego jugamos a un juego en el que los niños tenían que intentar quitarles la "cola" a los participantes de otros equipos para conseguir piezas de un mapa que les guiaría a un tesoro. Por la noche jugamos a "Santuario", en el que los niños se convirtieron durante una noche en víctimas, vampiros o cazadores.

Ayer, miércoles, tuvimos unas cuantas actividades de multi-aventura, como escalada, rappel o slacklining. El resto del día estuvo lleno de juegos y actividades, como el fútbol gaélico, una mezca de fútbol, baloncesto y rugby, u otros juegos variados que a los niños les encantaron. Por la noche tuvimos el último juego de orientación, esta vez un rastreo nocturno por el pueblo. El grupo 2 fue el ganador absoluto de los juegos de orientación!

August - 1st camp [Days 6 and 7 - THE END]

...and finally we got to the last days! Your children will have already told you what they did, but now you have here the pictures to see it.

On Thursday we had climbing and abseiling in the mountain. It was scary but fun at the same time; there were some children who didn't dare to do it, though! There was also a talk by a man from the Junta de Castilla y León, which the children enjoyed, and they also played some water games, apart from other varied games, as it was really hot. In the evening they had some extra time to prepare their luggage and at night we played "Chinese Laundry", a game where the children had to face different small games to make their team win!

Then the last day came, on Friday the 8th. We woke up earlier because we went to do rafting down river Ebro. It was their favourite activity in the camp, for sure!

We hope they all have enjoyed the camp here, and we will be here for everyone you need. Who knows! Maybe the school where your children go decide to come here during the academic year!

... y finalmente llegamos a los últimos días! Vuestros hijos ya os habrán contado lo que hicieron, pero ahora ya tenéis las fotos para poder verlo.

El jueves hicieron escalada y rappel en la montaña. Dio un poco de miedo pero fue divertido a la vez; sin embargo, hubo algunos chicos que no se atrevieron a hacerlo! También hubo una charla de un chico contratado por la Junta de Castilla y León y jugaron a algunos juegos de agua, aparte de otros juegos variados, ya que hacía mucho calor. Por la tarde-noche tuvieron algo más de tiempo para preparar las maletas y por la noche jugamos al "Chinese Laundry", un juego en el que los niños tenían que enfrentarse a diferentes pruebas para hacer que su equipo ganara!

Y llegó el último día, el viernes. Nos levantamos más pronto porque teníamos que salir para hacer rafting por el río Ebro. Fue lo que más les gustó del campamento, seguro!

Esperamos que les haya gustado el campamento y estaremos aquí para cualquier cosa que necesitéis. Quién sabe! A lo mejor la escuela a la que van vuestros hijos decide venir aquí de inmersión lingüística a lo largo del curso!

July 16th-29th [21st to 23rd]

Hi everyone! We are now in the middle of the camp, time flies here!

On Monday we had an orientation race around the village. We had a topographical map and had to read it properly in order to find the different hidden clues around the scenery. Each clue had a symbol drawn on it and the children had to draw that symbol on the map to check thay had really found it. Most groups found them all or at least most of them! In the afternoon the children played Bulldog, a game where someone in the middle has to catch the different children who are running from side to side. At night the girls had their revenge with the "double or nothing". They had to pass a handshake from child to child and the first handshake getting to the end won. The girls won this time!

On Tuesday we went to the mountain to look for fossils. The children found a lot of corals, rhynchonellas and ammonites, and there were some really good ones. We explained them the reason why there are so many fossils in here and the history of the mountains. At night something very special happened, as the X-Factor took place! In the afternoon there were different groups which were rehearsing for the competition. We could see some dances, theatres and some jokes in English. A dancing group was the winner

Today, on Wednesday, we had the multi-adventure day! The children were divided into four groups and during the morning and afternoon they had different activities. Some groups were doing climbing and abseiling, and other groups were practising slacklining and went into a cave to discover the place where wild animals eat, sleep and take shelter. Tonight we are going to watch a film, "The Croods", which is about a group of cavemen who are facing extinction and their only way out is a boy who has already evolved to a homo sapiens.

Hola a todo el mundo! Ya estamos a mitad de campamento, el tiempo vuela!

El lunes hicimos un circuito de orientación por los alrededores. Teníamos un mapa topográfico que tenían que interpretar correctamente para poder encontrar las diferentes balizas escondidas por el paisaje. Cada pista tenía un símbolo dibujado y los niños tenían que dibujar ese símbolo en el mapa para comprobar que realmente lo habían encontrado. La mayoría de grupos encontraron todas o por lo menos la mayoría! Por la tarde los niños jugaron a Bulldog, un juego en el que una persona en el medio tiene que pillar a los demás que van corriendo de lado a lado. Por la noche las chicas tuvieron su venganza con el "doble o nada". Tenían que pasarse un apretón de manos de niño a niño y el primer apretón que llegara al final ganaba. Las chicas ganaron esta vez!

El martes fuimos a las montañas a buscar fósiles. Los niños encontraron un montón de corales y unos cuantos rhynchonella y ammonites, y había algunos muy buenos. Les explicamos el motivo de por qué hay tantos fósiles aquí y la historia de las montañas. Por la noche pasó algo muy especial, el Factor X! Por la tarde los chicos se divideron en diferentes grupos y practicaron para la competición. Pudimos ver bailes, teatros y algunos chistes en inglés. Un grupo de baile fue el ganador!

Hoy, miércoles, tuvimos el día de multi-aventura. Los niños fueron divididos en cuatro grupos y durante la mañana y tarde hicieron diferentes actividades. Mientras unos grupos hacían escalada y rappel, los otros practicaron slacklining y se metieron en una cueva para descubrir el sitio en el que comen los animales salvajes, duermen y se refugian. Esta noche vamos a ver una película, "The Croods", que va sobre un grupo de cavernícolas que se enfrentan a la extinción y su única vía de escape es un chico que ya ha evolucionado a homo sapiens.
