August - 2nd camp [Days 2 and 3]

Hello again! After a couple of days here you have more information and pictures:

On Sunday we had our first full day, and during the whole day there were quite a few different games and workshops. We played such good games like "The Walking Dead" or "Bulldog" and in the workshops we made our own twitter to stick on our doors, we received and redecorated a camp notebook in order to take fieldnotes and also made some animal footprints out of cardboard and foamy. At night we played chess; the children thought it would be boring but what they didn't know is that we weren't talking about the original chess but a more active one, and they loved it!

Yesterday we had a hike to the "Pozo Azul", the longest underwater cave with fresh water in the world. Just 11.5 km. have been explored so far, and next weekend there are more divers to come to keep on exploring its length. Some of them got into its freezing water and all of them enjoyed it. On the way back we had time to stop and learn how to make food for fish. At night we watched a movie, as they were all exhausted. We watched "The Croods", a movie about evolution in prehistoric times.

Hola de nuevo! Tras un par de días aquí tenéis más información y fotos:

El domingo tuvimos nuestro primer día completo y durante todo el día hicimos diferentes juegos y talleres. Jugamos a juegos tan buenos como "El vivo al hoyo" o "Bulldog" y en los talleres hicimos nuestro propio "Twitter" para pegar en las puertas de nuestras habitaciones, les dimos y remodelaron un cuaderno del campamento para convertirlo en cuaderno de campo y además hicimos algunas huellas con cartón y goma Eva. Por la noche jugamos al ajedrez; los niños pensaron que sería aburrido, pero lo que ellos no sabían es que no estábamos hablando del ajedrez original sino de uno más activo, y les encantó!

Ayer tuvimos la marcha al Pozo Azul, la cueva subacuática de agua dulce más larga del mundo. De momento sólo han sido explorado 11.5 km. y el próximo fin de semana van a venir más buceadores para seguir explorando su longitud. Algunos de los chicos se metieron en el agua, que estaba helada, y todos se lo pasaron pipa. De camino a la residencia paramos a aprender a hacer comida para peces. Por la noche vimos una película porque estaban destrozados. Vimos "Los Croods", una película sobre evolución en tiempos prehistóricos.

August - 1st camp [Days 6 and 7 - THE END]

...and finally we got to the last days! Your children will have already told you what they did, but now you have here the pictures to see it.

On Thursday we had climbing and abseiling in the mountain. It was scary but fun at the same time; there were some children who didn't dare to do it, though! There was also a talk by a man from the Junta de Castilla y León, which the children enjoyed, and they also played some water games, apart from other varied games, as it was really hot. In the evening they had some extra time to prepare their luggage and at night we played "Chinese Laundry", a game where the children had to face different small games to make their team win!

Then the last day came, on Friday the 8th. We woke up earlier because we went to do rafting down river Ebro. It was their favourite activity in the camp, for sure!

We hope they all have enjoyed the camp here, and we will be here for everyone you need. Who knows! Maybe the school where your children go decide to come here during the academic year!

... y finalmente llegamos a los últimos días! Vuestros hijos ya os habrán contado lo que hicieron, pero ahora ya tenéis las fotos para poder verlo.

El jueves hicieron escalada y rappel en la montaña. Dio un poco de miedo pero fue divertido a la vez; sin embargo, hubo algunos chicos que no se atrevieron a hacerlo! También hubo una charla de un chico contratado por la Junta de Castilla y León y jugaron a algunos juegos de agua, aparte de otros juegos variados, ya que hacía mucho calor. Por la tarde-noche tuvieron algo más de tiempo para preparar las maletas y por la noche jugamos al "Chinese Laundry", un juego en el que los niños tenían que enfrentarse a diferentes pruebas para hacer que su equipo ganara!

Y llegó el último día, el viernes. Nos levantamos más pronto porque teníamos que salir para hacer rafting por el río Ebro. Fue lo que más les gustó del campamento, seguro!

Esperamos que les haya gustado el campamento y estaremos aquí para cualquier cosa que necesitéis. Quién sabe! A lo mejor la escuela a la que van vuestros hijos decide venir aquí de inmersión lingüística a lo largo del curso!

August - 1st camp [Days 2 and 3]

Hi! Here we are again with more things about the camp!

On Sunday we had our first full day in the camp. The children made their own twitter to send and receive messages from their mates, and played some games related to animals and their environment. In the afternoon we had a workshop related to footprints, where they had to create their own footprints. There were different models to choose from: wolves, foxes, roe deer, wild boars... We had to play later some games inside because of the rain, but came back outside in time for the swimming pool. At night we played "Chess", but not the typical one. In this game we had to capture the king from the other team, but there were some special rules to get the other children.

Yesterday it was the hike to the Blue Pit! It was fine because the weather was nice and we could enjoy the freezing water in the pit! For those of you who do not know anything about this place, it is the longest underwater cave with fresh water in Europe! At night we watched a film to relax after the hike, we really needed it!

Hola! Aquí estamos de nuevo con más cosillas sobre el campa!

El domingo tuvimos nuestro primer día completo del campamento. Los chicos hicieron su propio twitter para enviar y recibir mensajes de sus compañeros y jugamos a juegos relacionados con animales y con el entorno. Por la tarde hicimos un taller de huellas en el que los niños tenían que crear sus propias huellas. Había diferentes modelos para elegir, como por ejemplo de lobo, zorro, corzo o jabalí. Tuvimos que hacer algunos juegos dentro porque empezó a llover, pero paró a tiempo para la piscina. Por la noche jugamos al "Ajedrez", pero no al de toda la vida. En este juego tenían que capturar al rey del otro equipo, pero había algunas reglas especiales para poder pillar a los demás.

Ayer fue la marcha al Pozo Azul! Estuvo guay porque el tiempo fue bueno y pudimos disfrutar del agua helada del pozo! Para los que no lo sepáis, el Pozo Azul es la cueva subacuática de agua dulce más larga de Europa. Por la noche vimos una película para relajarnos tras la marcha, realmente lo necesitábamos!

July 16th-29th [Days 24th to 27th]

Good evening everyone!

Just a couple days to leave, so here we are with more information and pictures about these days.

- On Thursday we had a workshop where the children had to design and create a nest and an egg. The nests were (more or less) fine, but the eggs were a bit of a disaster! In the afternoon they had to look for a treasure hidden in Sedano. In order to find it, they had to take "tails" from the other children and exchange them for pieces of a map, which would show the place where the treasure was hidden. At night we played chess but in a different way. There were two big teams and every child was diferent chess piece with different values. The objective of the game was to capture the king, who had the highest value.

- We went on a hike on Friday. We had a historical approach of the environment by going to a dolmen and a 12th century church. On the way there we passed by a mountain full of fossils and we saw the remains of some old villages. As it was hot we had a small water battle in the village and then came back on time for the swimming pool. At night we watched the film "Brave", set in beautiful Scottish sceneries.

- Saturday was quiet day, the last quiet day they would have for the rest of the camp! The children had a workshop to make a pencilcase with recycled material, a plastic bottle in this case. They had to decorate it as if it was a monster and some of them were really cool. In the afternoon we played some games related to animals where the children had different animal roles in order to catch each other, and also a "sandwich" game. We played hide and seek at night; first the children had to hide and if a leader found and recognized them, they had to join them to look for the others. Then the leaders hid and it was really difficult for the children to look for them!

- Sunday was the water day. In the morning the children were divided into Vikings and Scots, and they had to fight against each other in a peculiar water war with many different small games. We played "Cemetery" or "Graveyard" in the afternoon and at night we played a game in which the children had to assume different roles, victims, vampires or hunters, in order to win the game.

Buenas tardes a todos!

Tan sólo un par de días más para irnos, así que aquí vamos con más noticias y fotos de estos días.

- El jueves hicimos un taller en el que los chicos tenían que diseñar y crear un nido y un huevo. Los nidos estaban (más o menos) bien, pero los huevos fueron un poco desastre! Por la tarde tenían que buscar un tesoro escondido en Sedano. Para poder encontrarlo, tenían que cogerles las "colas" de los otros niños e intercambiarlas por piezas de un mapa que les mostraría el lugar del tesoro. Por la noche jugamos al ajedrez, pero de un modo diferente. Había dos grandes equipos y cada niño era una pieza diferente con un valor diferente. El objetivo del juego era capturar al rey, que tenía el valor más alto.

- El viernes nos fuimos de marcha. Aprendimos un poco la historia del lugar mediante un ruta a un dolmen muy bien conservado y una iglesia del siglo XII. De camino pasamos por una montaña llena de fósiles y vimos los restos de pueblos muy antiguos. Como hacía calor, hicimos una pequeña guerra de agua en el pueblo y luego volvimos a tiempo para la piscina. Por la noche vimos "Brave", ambientada en unos paisajes escoceses preciosos.

- El sábado fue un día tranquilo, el último día tranquilo que tendrían durante el resto del campamento! Hicimos un taller para crear un estuche monster con material reciclado, una botella de plástico en este caso. Tenían que decorarla como si fuera un mónstruo y algunos quedaron muy chulos. Por la tarde jugamos a juegos de pilla pilla relacionados con animales, en el que los niños tenían que asumir diferentes papeles de animales, y un juego de "sandwich". A la noche jugamos al escondite al revés; primero los niños tenían que esconderse y si un monitor les encontraba y les reconocía tenían que unirse a ellos y ayudar a encontrar a los otros. Luego los monitores se escondieron y fue realmente difícil encontrarles!

- El domingo fue el día del agua. Por la mañana los niños fueron dividos en dos grupos, vikingos y escoceses, y tenían que luchar los unos contra los otros en una peculiar guerra de agua con diferentes jueguecillos. Por la tarde jugamos a "cementerio" o "campos quemados" y por la noche hicimos un juego en el que los niños tenían que asumir diferentes roles, de víctimas, vampiros o cazadores, para poder ganar el juego.

July 16th - 29th [First days: 16 to 20]

Good afternoon! Here we are again with the blog and with some news from these first days! We are so busy we don't have much time to do anything, not even to upload pics, but there we go with a brief summary from these days!

- The children arrived on Wednesday the 16th. There were some new faces and some from last year, so it was going to be a nice camp. On the first day we had some games to get to know our names and break the ice. At night we had an orientation game around the residence in order for the children to discover the limits of the residence and the facilities. They had to look for some envelopes with pieces of a puzzle inside which would have to be joined together later.

- On the second day we had some morning workshops. In the first one, the children created their own twitter to receive messages or "tweets" from others and also to send them. In the second workshop they created their own "Grass Head", which had to be watered every day for its hair to grow. In the afternoon we played the "Ass to the grass" game and at night we played "Firefly"; the children had to change their clothes so that the others couldn't recognize them.

- On Friday we had a hike to the "Pozo Azul"! The children always love this hike because it's a very beautiful natural place. It is an underwater cave, which is the longest in Europe, and it's blue because of its depth. Before going on the hike we had some swimming pool time, and the difference in temperature from the pool to the Pozo Azul was amazing! At night we played "Pressing Kiss", which the boys won! However, the girls want their revenge and they will have it really soon...

- We had two different parts on Saturday morning; we had a rally and then some parachute games. The children had to arrange in groups of 6 for the rally and each group was a car, with its wheels, tank and driver. For the parachute we made use of the caps and some balls, but it was hard sometimes. In the afternoon it was raining a lot, so we had to go to the attic to stay away from the rain. There we played Chinese football, which the children loved. At night we played "Identity"; for this game, the children had to perform with mimic some strange or curious facts about them and then the other groups had to guess who did what.

- Yesterday, Sunday, the morning was also divided into two. First they played an active game, gaelic football, which is a mixture of football, rugby and basketball. For the second hour they had a footprints workshop which had to be finished in the afternoon as we ran out of time. At night we had to go to one of the neighbourhoods in the village to play a night game. We hid ten envelopes with some words inside which the children had to find in order to complete a song later. The envelopes were really well hidden as none of the groups found them all!

Buenas tardes! Aquí estamos de nuevo con el blog y con noticias de estos primeros días! Estamos tan ocupados que apenas tenemos tiempo de hacer nada, ni siquiera de subir fotos, pero aquí vamos con un pequeño resumen de estos días:

- Los niños llegaron el miércoles 16. Había bastantes caras nuevas y otras del año pasado, así que iba a ser un buen campa. El primer día hicimos unos cuantos juegos para conocer los nombres y romper el hielo. Por la noche jugamos a un juego de orientación por la residencia para que los niños descubrieran los límites de la residencia y de las instalaciones. Tenían que buscar sobres con piezas de un puzle dentro que más tarde tendrían que unir.

- El segundo día hicimos talleres. En el primero los niños tenían que crear su propio twitter para recibir mensajes o "twits" de otros y para poder enviarlos. En el segundo taller crearon sus propios "pelones" o "potatos", que tenían que ser regados todos los días para que les creciera el pelo. Por la tarde jugamos al juego "El vivo al hoyo" y por la noche jugamos a "Luciérnaga"; los niños tenían que cambiarse de ropa para que los otros no les reconocieran.

- El viernes tuvimos la marcha al Pozo Azul! A los niños siempre les gusta esta marcha porque es un sitio de belleza natural increíble. Es una cueva subacuática, la más larga de Europa, y es azul debido a su profundidad. Antes de la marcha nos lo pasamos piruleta en la piscina, la diferencia de temperatura de la piscina al pozo era increíble. Por la noche jugamos a "beso o placaje", en el que ganaron los chicos! Sin embargo, las chicas quieren su venganza y la van a tener muy pronto...

- El sábado por la mañana hicimos dos cosillas diferentes; un rally por un lado y juegos de paracaídas por otro. Los niños tenían que formar grupos de 6 para el rally y cada grupo era un coche, con sus ruedas, depósito y conductor. Para el paracaídas utilizamos gorras y algunos balones, aunque costaba bastante a veces. Por la tarde estuvo lloviendo bastante así que tuvimos que ir al ático para resguardarnos. Allí jugamos al fútbol chino y a los niños les encantó. Por la noche jugamos a "Identity"; en este juego los niños tienen que representar con mímica cosas o hechos curiosos sobre ellos y los otros grupos tienen que adivinar quién hace qué.

- Ayer, domingo, la mañana también se dividió en dos. Primero jugaron a algo movidito, fútbol gaélico, que es una mezcla de fútbol, rugby y baloncesto. Durante la segunda hora hicieron un taller de huellas que tuvieron que acabar en la hora de la tarde ya que se quedaron sin tiempo. Por la noche fuimos a uno de los barrios del pueblo para jugar a un rastreo nocturno. Escondimos diez sobres con palabras dentro que los niños tenían que encontrar para completar una canción. Los sobres estaban bien escondidos, ya que ningún grupo encontró todos!
