July 1st-14th [Days 8 to 11]

Hello again!

We are really sorry for the delay, but we have been so busy we haven't had any time to upload pics or stuff!

This week we have had good weather again, so we've been able to go to the swimming pool, finally!!! Let's have a quick look at what we have done so far:

-On Tuesday we went to the mountain to look for fossils. We learnt the different types of fossils, how they got there and we kept some with us. Then in the afternoon and evening we had the X-Factor. In the afternoon we divided the groups and prepared for it, and then performed everything in the evening. There were some dances and magic, although some tricks were better than others!

-Something really important happened on Wednesday, as "The Hunger Games" took place. The children woke up really surprised when they saw all the teachers and leaders dressed up and ready for the battle! This battle took place throughout the whole day and the children, who were divided into groups, had to compete against each other in a lot of different games. The "Blue Sharks" won! At night we watched "The Croods", a film in English about a group of cavemen who were facing extinction.

-On Thursday we played quite a few games. Some of them were "Graveyard" or "Dodgeball", "Cops and thieves" or "Ass to the grass". With the younger ones we also finished painting and decorating our fossils box. In the afternoon they had to look for a treasure, but first they needed the map, which was divided into pieces; to get this pieces they had to take some "tails" which the other teams were carrying with them. At night we played a quick game and went to sleep, as the next day was going to be quite exhausting...

-And finally Friday arrived, hiking day! We had a historical approach to the valley as we were heading for a dolmen which is really nice. On the way there we saw some fossils, remains of really antique villages and we could take a glance of a cave which will be later explored. At night we watched the movie "Brave", with some beautiful Scottish sceneries.

Hola de nuevo!

Sentimos muchísimo la espera, pero hemos estado taan ocupados que no hemos tenido ni tiempo de subir fotos y demás cosillas!

Esta semana hemos vuelto a tener buen tiempo de nuevo, así que hemos podido ir a la piscina por fin!!! Vamos a echar un vistazo de lo que hemos hecho hasta ahora:

-El martes fuimos a la montaña a buscar fósiles. Aprendimos los diferentes tipos de fósiles, cómo llegaron allí y nos quedamos algunos. Luego por la tarde y por la noche hicimos el "Factor X". Por la tarde dividimos los grupos y nos preparamos para ello, y luego representamos todo por la noche. Hubo bastantes bailes y magia, aunque algunos trucos fueron mejores que otros!

-El miércoles pasó algo muy importante en Sedano, ya que se llevaron a cabo "Los Juegos del Hambre". Los niños se levantaron muy sorprendidos cuando vieron a todos los líderes y profesores disfrazados y listos para la batalla! Esta batalla se realizó durante todo el día y los niños, divididos en grupos, tenían que competir unos contra otros en un montón de juegos diferentes. Los "Blue Sharks" ganaron! Por la noche vimos la peli "The Croods", una peli en inglés sobre un grupo de cavernícolas que se enfrentaban a la extinción.

-El jueves jugamos a unos cuantos juegos. Algunos de ellos fueron "Campos quemados", "polis y cacos" o "el vivo al hoyo" Con lo más jóvenes además terminamos de pintar y decorar la caja para fósiles. Por la tarde tuvieron que buscar un tesoro, pero primero necesitaban el mapa, que estaba dividido en diferentes partes; para conseguir estas partes tenían que conseguir "colas" que los otros equipos llevaban con ellos. Por la noche hicimos un juego rápido y a dormir, ya que el próximo día iba a ser bastante cansadete...

-Y es que finalmente llegó el viernes, y con él, día de marcha! Echamos un vistazo histórico al valle mientras nos dirígiamos a un dolmen bien conservado. De camino vimos fósiles, restos de antiguos pueblos y pudimos echar un vistazo a una cueva que será explorada más adelante. Por la noche vimos la película "Brave", con unos paisajes escoceses preciosos.

July 1st-14th [Days 5, 6 and 7]

Good afternoon!

Here we are again with some news from Sedano! Some more days have passed and we are now on the midway of the camp.

Apart from Sunday, these last days we have had quite good weather. On Saturday we had a very important rally in Sedano, the Montecarlo Rally. The children had to arrange in groups of 6 and each of them performed a part of the vehicle (wheels, driver and tank), every lap there were special games! Then we played a couple of animal games, one in which a "paper, rock, scissors" game was involved and we also played tag, performing different animals which we had to eat according to the food chain. In the afternoon we designed a box with some milk cartons, which we finished the following day, and at night we played chess, a strategy game but not the board game!

On Sunday we had the end of the world! In the morning we were lucky and it didn't rain, so we were able to do the orientation game around the mountain and surroundings. In the afternoon and evening we weren't that lucky, because it started to rain a lot. We finished painting and creating our boxes and in the free time there were different rooms with different options: there was a room where English videos were being played, another one with workshops and another one where they played games. If finished raining, so at night we played hide and seek, but in a different way.

Yesterday, on Monday, the weather changed and we finally saw the sun again, now our 'Grass Heads' will grow some hair, definitely! In the morning we had a footprints workshop outside. The children had to create their own footprints with Eva foam and then their small footprints book to stamp them with ink in it. In the afternoon we played some Gaelic football, which is the typical football played in Ireland. It's a mixture of football, rugby and handball, and the children loved it! Then we went finally to the swimming pool, yes! At night we played a kind of a paper chase in one of the neighbourhoods of Sedano. There were ten hidden envelopes which the different groups had to find: there were some words inside every envelope which had to be used later to complete the song "Happy".

Buenas tardes!

Aquí estamos de nuevo con noticias frescas de Sedano! Ya han pasado unos cuantos días más y estamos ya a mitad de campamento.

Aparte del domingo, estos últimos días estamos teniendo buen tiempo más o menos. El sábado hubo un rally muy importante, el Rally de Montecarlo. Los niños tenían que hacer grupos de 6 y cada uno de ellos era una parte del coche (ruedas, conductor, depósito), y a cada vuelta tenían pequeñas pruebas! Luego hicimos un par de juegos de animales, uno que incluía el "piedra, papel o tijera" y un juego de pillar en el que cada uno era un animal que tenía que comer a otros dependiendo de la cadena alimenticia. Por la tarde hicimos una caja con tetra briks de leche que terminamos al día siguiente, y por la noche jugamos al "ajedrez", un juego de estrategia pero de pillar, no el del tablero de toda la vida.

El domingo fue el fin del mundo! Por la mañana tuvimos suerte y no llovió, así que pudimos hacer el juego de orientación por la montaña y alrededores. Por la tarde y tarde-noche no tuvimos tanta suerte porque se puso a llover muchísimo. Terminamos de crear y decorar nuestras cajas y en el tiempo libre había tres habitaciones con opciones diferentes: había una habitación en la que se ponían vídeos en inglés, otra con talleres y otra en la que se hacían juegos. Por la noche paró de llover, así que jugamos al escondite, pero de un modo diferente.

Ayer, lunes, el tiempo cambió y por fin volvimos a ver salir el sol, ahora sí que le saldrá pelo a nuestros pelones! Por la mañana hicimos taller de huellas. Los niños tenían que crear sus propias huellas con goma Eva y su propio librillo de huellas para estamparlas con tinta. Por la tarde jugamos a fútbol gaélico, que es el fútbol típico de Irlanda. Es una mezcla de fútbol, rugby y balonmano y a los chavales les encantó. Luego fuimos a la piscina, por fin!!! Por la noche hicimos una especie de búsqueda del tesoro, un rastreo por uno de los barrios de Sedano. Había diez sobres escondidos con palabras dentro que tenían que ser usadas posteriormente para completar la canción "Happy".

July 1st-14th [Days 3 and 4]

Good afternoon again!

Two more days here, time flies! Yesterday it was quite strange, as the weather didn't allow us to do many of the activities we had planned, so we had to come inside. In the morning we had some games with a big coloured parachute; we had to create an igloo and also to elevate a ball, which was quite hard! Then we played some games depending on the weather, some of them were inside and some of them outside. In the afternoon it looked as if we could go to the swimming pool, so we decided to go to the swimming pool at 4 as it was sunny!... but our happiness turned into disappointment when we had to go out because it was starting to rain! Then we played Chinese football inside and another team game. The night was awesome, we played "Identity", did you use to watch the TV programme on TVE1? If you don't remember it, it was about 12 strangers who had to perform with mimic a strange thing about them in around 30 seconds. Then, the main contestant had to guess who did what. Well, the children did it in groups, and the group which had Ainhoa as a leader won!

Today we went to the "Pozo Azul". Some of the children had already been there last year, but they still thought it was incredible! This year, the water is even clearer and cleaner than last year (and colder!). At night we played some really fun (and funny) games outside, but we finished earlier, as the children were totally exhausted.

Buenas tardes de nuevo!

Ya han pasado dos días más, el tiempo vuela! El jueves fue un día raro ya que el tiempo no nos permitió hacer muchas de las actividades que habíamos planeado, así que tuvimos que entrar dentro. Por la mañana hicimos algunos juegos con un paracaídas de colores; teníamos que hacer un iglú y también lanzar una pelota, lo cual era bastante difícil. Luego hicimos juegos que dependían del tiempo, algunos fueron dentro y otros fuera. Por la tarde parecía que podríamos ir a la piscina, así que decidimos ir a las 4 porque hacía sol!... pero nuestra felicidad se convirtió en decepción cuando tuvimos que salir de ella debido a la lluvia. Posteriormente jugamos al fútbol chino dentro y otro juego de equipo. La noche fue genial, jugamos a "Identity", os acordáis de cuando lo daban en TVE1? Por si no os acordáis, trataba de 12 extraños que tenían que representar con mímica algún dato curioso sobre ellos en unos 30 segundos. Luego, el concursante principal tenía que adivinar qué persona hizo qué cosas. Bien, pues los chicos lo hicieron en grupos, y el grupo que tenía a Ainhoa de líder ganó!

Ayer fuimos al Pozo Azul. Algunos de los chicos ya habían estado allí el año pasado, pero aún así pensaban que era increíble. Este año el agua está incluso más clara y limpia que el año pasado (y más fría!) Por la noche jugamos a algunos juegos realmente entretenidos (y divertidos!) fuera, pero acabamos más pronto ya que los niños estaban agotadísimos.

July, 1st-14th [Days 1-2]

Good evening, and welcome again to Sedano!

Throughout these days we'll keep on uploading pictures and information about these days so that you can be informed about what your kids are doing!

On the first day, when we got to Sedano, we distributed rooms and unpacked things. It was incredible to see so many people from last year's camp! In the afternoon we played some games to break the ice and get to know the names of each other and then we played some sports. There were some brave ones who even got into the swimming pool! At night we played an orientation game around the residence; they had to look for envelopes with pieces of a puzzle inside in order to join them all later. Nobody found all of them!

Yesterday was the first full day, so we made the class groups according to age and English level. We had our first workshops; first we had to create our own Twitter profile. We had to write some personal information for the others to know more things about ourselves, and we can send some "tweets" or messages to anyone! Then we made some "Grass heads". These are small dolls which we have to take care of daily so that "natural hair" can grow out of them. In the afternoon we played the so well-known "Ass to the grass" or "Walking dead" game. Unfortunately we couldn't go to the swimming pool because of the weather, so we played some games instead. At night we played "Firefly", which is like "Red Light, Green light", but in this game the children have to change their clothes in order for the volunteers not to recognize them, because if they do, then they have to go back!

Buenas tardes, ¡y bienvenidos de nuevo a Sedano!

A lo largo de estos días seguiremos subiendo fotos e información sobre estos días para que así podáis estar informados de lo que van haciendo vuestros chicos.

El primer día, cuando llegamos a Sedano, distribuímos las habitaciones y deshicimos maletas. ¡Fue increíble ver tantas caras conocidas del año pasado! Por la tarde hicimos algunos juegos para romper el hielo y para conocer los nombres de los demás y luego jugamos a diferentes deportes. Hubo algunos valientes que incluso se metieron en la piscina. Por la noche hicimos un juego de orientación alrededor de la residencia; los chicos tenían que encontrar sobres con piezas de puzzle dentro para poder juntarlas más tarde. ¡Ningún equipo encontró todas!

Ayer fue el primer día completo así que hicimos los grupos de clase según edad y nivel de inglés. También tuvimos nuestros primeros talleres; primero hicimos nuestro propio perfil de Twitter para colgar en las puertas. Teníamos que poner información sobre nosotros para que los demás nos conocieran mejor y para poder mandar mensajes o "twits" a cualquiera. Luego hicimos unos muñecos crece-pelo. Tienen que cuidar de ellos diariamente para que su pelo natural (de césped) les salga. Por la tarde jugamos al tan famoso "Vivo al hoyo". Por desgracia no pudimos entrar a la piscina por el tiempo así que jugamos a otras cosas en su lugar. Por la noche jugamos a "Luciérnaga", que es como el escondite inglés, pero en esete juego los niños tienen que cambiarse de ropa para que los voluntarios no les reconozcan porque, si lo hacen, tienen que retroceder!
